Concert Chorale lesson plans

This ensemble is made up mostly of junior and senior students, though we do have some younger students in this group as well. This group will perform on three concerts this school year that will be held in the SHS field house. They will perfom on the Veteran’s Daty assembly in November along with the campu8s choir, the band, and the orchestra. They will also participate in the district music large ensemlbe festival.

Many of the students have already expressed an interest in auditioning for the Missouri Choral Directors Association (MCDA) junior and senior all-district choir. Students who are selected for this ensemble will rehearse and perform with top choir students from other schools all over southeast Missouri. They will also have the opportunity to audition for the MCDA all-state choir that performs at the anual Missouri Music Educators’ Association conference in January.

These students will also have the opportunity to perform a solo or small ensemlbe at  the district music festibal  in March if they choose. Those students who choose to do this may qualify to advance to the state music festival in April.

Many of the students have already expressed an interest in taking advantage of a new opportunity this year. Students may earn a letter in choir for participating in certain activities above and beyond the scheduled concerts. These activities may include:

  • singing the national anthem as part of a small ensemble at home basketball games
  • singing a solo or in a small ensemble at district and/or state music festival
  • auditioning for the all-distrtict and all-state choirs
  • helping file music in the choral library
