Children are the priority, Change is the reality, Collaboration is the strategy.

A professional learning community, or PLC, is a group of educators that meets regularly, shares expertise, and works collaboratively to improve teaching skills and the academic performance of students.  The primary focus is on four essential questions:

  1. What do we want our students to know?
  2. How will we know if they know it?
  3. What do we do if they don’t know it?
  4. What do we do if they do know it?

Teachers will utilize collaboration and discussion of state and local standards to answer the first question.  Teachers will then utilize common formative assessments, or CFA’s, to answer the second question. Finally, intervention strategies are applied to answer questions three or four.
